Ways and means by which pollution problems can be great reduced are -

1. Masses at personal level should determine to confuse optimum
level of resources, which would lead a comfortable life Because
excessive resource consumption is in someway related to
    pollution problems and hazards.

 2. Waste disposal at personal level should be optimally reduced as
waste destruction by any means causes pollution.

3. Maintenance of vehicles should proper as to avoid introduction of
harmful gases and other pollutants into the atmosphere.

4. Generators and other household gadgets that add to pollution of
environment should be kept will maintained.

5. Use of chemical fertilizers should be limited as to avoid water
    pollution e.g. DDT

6. Timely disposal of waste to prevent decomposition of household
refuge as to check out foul odour and spread of disease by insects,
    flies and other pathogenic bacteria.

7. Industrialists should check proper disposal of treated water from
factory units as to avoid thermal pollution of  water bodies. They
should also diploy a water treatment plant to prevent the flow of
    hazardous material.

8. Service centres of vehicles should minimise the disposal of
organic solvents into the main drains.

9. Music Lovers should listen and operate their music systems at optimum levels as to avoid noise pollutions.

10. Use Cfl in place of a electric bulb to avoid pollution of carbon dioxide.

Fertility of soil is decreasing day by day

Everyday we go for shopping and bring the things in plastic bags..The bags are good enough to carry the things but they are really harmful for the soil...Guessing how ???

See when we throw them somewhere in the soil , after some days or months it reduces the fertility of the soil ,making it unable to cultivate...So don't throw them anywhere ...

Collect them
and store them in the city municipalty dustbin ...

Global Warming Affects Food Chain in Artic Ocean

Over the past decade, the annual bloom of phytoplankton in the Arctic Ocean has been arriving earlier each year - a change that could hurt the marine food chain and carbon cycling in the region, according to a new research.
Scientists from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography (UC San Diego), Mexico and Portugal have attributed the shift to warming temperatures and melting ice in the Arctic.
Using satellite data from 1997-2010 depicting ocean colour and phytoplankton production, they found that the spring blooms have been arriving up to 50 days earlier in some areas over this 10-year period.
The researchers said the earlier Arctic blooms have roughly occurred in areas where ice concentrations have dwindled, creating gaps where the bloom can briefly flourish.

During the one to two week spring bloom, which occurs in warm as well as cold regions, a major influx of new organic carbon enters the marine ecosystem through a massive peak in phytoplankton photosynthesis, which converts carbon dioxide into organic matter as part of the global carbon cycle.
Phytoplankton blooms stimulate production of zooplankton, microscopic marine animals, which become a food source for fish.
"The bloom provides a major source of food for zooplankton, fish and bottom-dwelling animals. The advancement of the bloom time may have consequences for the Arctic ecosystem."
Mati Kahru, lead author and a research oceanographer at Scripps, said that it was not clear if fish will adapt to match the change, and whether it would disrupt their critical life-cycle stages such as egg hatching and larvae development.
"The spring bloom provides a major source of food for zooplankton, fish and bottom-dwelling animals. The advancement of the bloom time may have consequences for the Arctic ecosystem," he said.
Such a match or mismatch in timing could explain much of the annual variability of fish stocks in the region.
"The trend towards earlier phytoplankton blooms can expand into other areas of the Arctic Ocean and impact the whole food chain," the researchers concluded.

Forests protect the planet...But how ??

Trees create the basis for many natural ecosystems. They create a stable climate and help stabilise the ground and prevent erosion. They protect coasts from waves and ocean swells, they stabilize sand dunes, protect the groundwater and prevent the spreading of desert.

Forests are very important for biological diversity. They are habitat for up to 90 percent of the terrestrial species of animals and plants we know.

Trees and shrubs play a central role for rural people throughout the world. The forest provide us with timber, firewood, food, feed for livestock, oils, rubber, medicine and new materials for new technologies, and more.

The world's forests only cover about 10 percent of the Earth's surface – but they account for 42 percent of the total photosynthesis of both land and sea.

What we can do??

FIRST THINK WHAT WE CANNOT DO THEN READ....
To meet climate change with the forest as a starting point we have to do several things:
  • We must protect the forests we have and manage them sustainably.
  • We must reduce deforestation globally.
  • We need to replant what we have lost – and plant even more forests.
  • We must plan reforestation so as the new forests can be adapted to the climatic changes that will come.
  • We must use wood as a material and for bioenergy – and replace concrete, steel, etc. with wood.

But there are also many other things we can do:

Save energy
We can use less energy. Here are some simple ideas – figure out more on your own:
  • Take your bike
  • Use the train and bus instead of your car.
  • Travel without flying
  • Switch to energy-saving light bulbs – they last 6 to 15 times longer.
  • Turn off lights and electrical appliances when not in use. Avoid stand bye mode.
  • Take short showers.
  • Hang-dry your clothes instead of using the tumble dryer.
  • Isolate your house.
  • Use new forms of energy – solar, wind and bioenergy.
  • Eat less meat.
  • Buy locally – and grow your own crops.
Explore and invent new solutions
With climate change humanity is faced with a great challenge – but also with an exciting time when many people at the same time are aiming to develop new technological and social solutions. To this, both children and adults can contribute. We need curiosity and smartness, and for many people to study and get more knowledge. We need creativity, so that the knowledge we have can be used in new ways. And we need compassion, so that everyone will be included in the progress. It could be a turning point for us all. So, it is just to get started.

Why is planting trees helping to reduce climate change?

There are two ways of reducing the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere. We can emit less CO2 – and we can remove CO2 from the atmosphere and store it. Trees can do both! Forests have a key role in regulating the climate, because trees by their photosynthesis absorb CO2 from the atmosphere and store carbon as wood and organic matter in the soil.

Photosynthesis
Using the energy from sunlight green leaves absorb CO2 from the air. Inside the leaf cells CO2 is bound together with water and converted into the sugar substance glucose. Glucose is transformed by the tree to wood, branches, fruit, leaves, roots etc. In this way, CO2 is bound inside the tree as carbon. There is only one waste substance – oxygen.

Photosynthesis:  CO2 + Water + Sunlight Sugar + Oxygen

SAVE OUR FOREST TREES

Do you know to make a forest we require more than a hundred years.....so building a forest now will help us after 100 hears but who knows our earth will be there or not after 100 years ...So save what we have and then plant trees ....
FIRST SAVE THE EXISTING AND SAVE TODAY, THEN PLANT TREES AND MAKE FUTURE .....

Tips to save electricity........

REGULARLY  REPLACE LIGHT BULBS WITH COMPACT FLUORESCENTS...
SWITCH OFF YOU ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES WHEN THEY ARE NOT IN USE...
TURN OFF LIGHTS WHEN YOU DON'T NEED IT...
IRON YOUR CLOTHES AT ONE TIME IF POSSIBLE...

        SAVE ENERGY

        RECYCLE ANYTHING YOU CAN

        RECYCLING SAVES ENERGY..

RECYCLE YOUR UNUSABLE MOBILE PHONES,YOUR OLD NEWSPAPERS etc....

        PLANT TREES...........

        http://franklincity.k12.va.us/images/intelli/tree.gif
THEY ABSORB CARBONDIOXIDE ,THE GAS WHICH IS INCREASING THE TEMPERATURE OF THE EARTH DAY BY DAY..
